Preface

The Association of Supply Chain Professionals (ASCP) and Japan Association for Logistics and Transport (JALoT) journey began in April 2025, when a delegation from the Japan Association for Logistics and Transport (JALoT) visited India.

Those first conversations opened a practical dialogue on how Japanese logistics expertise and India’s growth in infrastructure, manufacturing and professional capability could work together.

What followed was a steady sequence of exchanges. Subsequent visits to Japan, including ASCP’s engagement at JALoT headquarters and seminar invitation on the future of India’s Supply Chain (in June 2025, and a second one in May 2026), presented by the Honorary Secretary General of ASCP Mr Anshuman Neil Basu, deepened mutual understanding and identified clear areas of joint work: digital transformation, sustainability, talent development and resilient India–Japan supply chains. JALoT also joined ASCP’s Annual India Supply Chain Conference in September 2025 from Tokyo as its Exclusive Partner.

On 22 July 2026, this relationship was formalised in Tokyo with the signing of a strategic and historic Memorandum of Understanding which was also JALoT’s first partnership with an overseas logistics organisation.

Implementation of the MoU between ASCP and JALoT is organised around four pillars:

  1. Knowledge exchange and research in digital transformation (DX), sustainability and supply-chain resilience
  2. Human-resource development through joint talent and capacity-building programmes
  3. Business networking to facilitate investment opportunities and joint projects
  4. Policy advocacy for a more efficient and resilient logistics ecosystem in both countries

The road ahead is already in motion. With Japan as the Focus Country of ASCPs Annual Conference, JALoT is once again the Exclusive Supporting Partner for ASCP’s Annual India Supply Chain 2026 Conference in Mumbai on 11 September, under the theme 'Supply Chain to Responsible Chain: AI Optimism 2026'.

This page will carry updates that now follows from this historic MoU between ASCP and JALoT.
